Who Are the Children Waiting for Adoption?

In partnership with state foster care organizations, Gladney actively supports families looking for children who are immediately available for adoption. These children have entered the foster system due to abuse or neglect and are now waiting for a new beginning.
Families interested in this program should be open to adopting a child with one or more of the following characteristics:
  • Currently in state foster care and available for adoption
  • Children 8 years old and older
  • Sibling groups with children ranging in ages of 5 and older
  • Children who need extra care and sensitivity given their history of loss and trauma
  • Minority children
  • Medically challenged

The Cost to Adopt from Foster Care

Building your family through foster care is affordable.

no agency fees

There are no fees charged by either Gladney or the state foster care organizations to adopt a child from the custody of Child Protective Services.

financial assistance from your state

To ensure you can meet the needs of your child, your state typically offers ongoing financial support for eligible children, which can include:

  • A monthly financial stipend
  • Healthcare benefits
  • A college tuition and fee waiver to public universities and colleges in Texas

Home Study

There are no fees for families who live inside Texas or Oklahoma. Families who live outside of Texas and in Oklahoma will need to pay our Home Study fee of $2,500

Requirements for Adoptive Parents

Our New Beginnings Program is highly specialized. We are looking for dedicated families who are prepared to meet the unique needs of these children. Families are selected based on:

locations

Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Florida, North Carolina, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Illinois, and Missouri. 

experience

The ability to provide the love, care, and experience necessary for each child’s individual needs.

resources

You must be prepared to obtain any needed medical resources for your child. Gladney’s staff will assist you in securing subsidies for qualifying children.
