About the Program
What is CPRT?
A play-based, evidence-supported approach to building the bond that shapes your child’s future.
Serving All of Texas
CPRT is a play-based, evidence-supported program that helps caregivers strengthen their relationship with their child. Through this course, you’ll learn play therapy skills specifically designed to be used at home.
By incorporating just 30 minutes a week of play therapy skills, you can build lasting trust and deepen your relationship with your child for life.
CPRT helps you better understand and respond to your child’s emotional needs — and by increasing empathy, it can reduce challenging behaviors along the way.

What if I miss a week?
Communicate with your therapist about any missed sessions. They’ll work with you so you can continue to focus on strengthening your relationship with your child — life happens, and we’re here to support you.
Can we participate if we’re already in therapy?
Absolutely! This group can complement individual therapy beautifully. You’re welcome to sign a release if you’d like your providers to coordinate care for the best possible outcome.
Will CPRT help my child’s behavior?
Yes. CPRT helps you better understand and respond to your child’s underlying needs. By increasing empathy and connection, many caregivers see a meaningful reduction in challenging behaviors over the 10 weeks.
Do my kids attend the group?
No — this is a virtual group for caregivers only. The skills you learn are then brought into your home during dedicated 30-minute play sessions with your child each week.
Who is this course designed for?
Any caregiver — parents, grandparents, foster parents, or guardians — with children between ages 3 and 12. You don’t need any prior experience with therapy or play-based approaches.
Is this evidence-based?
Yes. CPRT is supported by peer-reviewed research, including studies showing its efficacy for strengthening attachment and addressing behavioral challenges in children. A full reference is listed below.
