Taiwan Heritage Program

Returning to a birth country is much more than a vacation. It is an opportunity to better understand your story while connecting with the sights, sounds, traditions, and flavors of the country where your story began.

For some adoptees, there may also be an opportunity for a Reunion Trip with a foster family, birth family, or other significant people from their early life. While every reunion is unique, spending meaningful time together and revisiting important places can provide deeper insight into one’s personal history, strengthen lifelong connections, and become a meaningful part of an ongoing journey of identity and belonging.

Gladney’s Heritage Program was created with adoptees and families at its center. Rather than simply touring Taiwan, participants travel with others who understand the unique experience of adoption while receiving support from professionals experienced in both international adoption and post-adoption services.

Every itinerary is intentionally designed to encourage curiosity, connection, and reflection.

The Taiwan Heritage Program combines authentic cultural experiences with Gladney’s lifelong commitment to supporting adoptees and their families.

This program is designed to help adoptees and families build lasting memories, while deepening a connection to their birth country, people, and Taiwanese heritage.

Throughout seven unforgettable days, families will experience Taiwan’s vibrant cities, breathtaking landscapes, and rich cultural traditions.

For adoptees interested in deepening personal connections through reunions, Gladney’s team, alongside our partners — Chung Yi and Cathwel — will work to arrange reunions, as well as visits to important landmarks in a child’s early years.

These may include:

• Child welfare organizations
• Foster family visits
• Birth family reunions
• Additional heritage experiences

Because these visits require significant coordination with local partners, they typically require at least six months of advance planning and cannot be guaranteed for every participant.
